Leighton Denny Colour & Go Nail Polish

Don't you just  love it when you discover unopened products at the back of your beauty draw? I was pleasantly surprised the other day when I came across a Leighton Denny nail polish I had yet to use. I always forget to apply a base and top coat when painting my nails and then I always complain that it chips so this handy little double ended polish is a savior for me as it ensures a long lasting finish! I just wish I came across it sooner. I had heard good things about Leighton Denny products before and as soon as I opened the polish I could tell it was a great quality. The polish was easy to apply with a decent sized brush, I usually like a brush that covers the entire nail but that is probably just me being lazy so I cannot complain. I have been browsing online and it doesn't come in a huge range of colours but the shades it does come in are gorgeous so I'm sure there is a colour for everyone, my personal favourites are this lovely colour which is Rampant Rose, and also Mink, a gorgeous neutral colour with slight rosy tones. If you want to get your hands on one these double ended polishes yourself you can get them from various retailers including M&S, Blush Beauty Box and of course the Leighton Denny website for just £11, a very good price considering you are really getting two polishes! I'm afraid my stubby little nails don't do the polish enough justice, when will you learn the importance of nail hardener, Ellie.

Have you used Leighton Denny nail polish before?

London Fashion Week: Zoe Jordan A/W 14

It's that time of year again that we've all been waiting for, London Fashion Week A/W 2014! This year I have been biting at my fingers nails waiting to see what Zoe Jordan had to show especially as I have been so lucky to be able to secure an internship there starting in 2 months, you can imagine how excited I had been getting at twenty to two yesterday afternoon waiting to see this first photos! To enlighten those of you who may not know much about Zoe Jordan, she is an architect turned designer who seems to be in her element designer androgynous womenswear, an inspiration to me as this is my favourite style to design. Another little fact about the very talented Zoe J is that her dad, as a former motorsport team boss, brought Zoe up in the world of motoracing, which I was thrilled to see, appears to be her main inspiration for her A/W collection. Her designs are so true to traditional motor racing kit yet her interpritation of it makes it look so fashionable. I love the iconic racing badges but also like that she has put her stamp on it too with her own logo. However the collection is not all badged biker jackets and jumpsuits, she also has some stunningly cut dresses, trousers and coats in the most luxurious looking fabrics, which overall creates a lovely range! Need I say I cannot wait to be a part of the Zoe Jordan team to get cracking on her next collection.
These are a few of my favourites from the show:

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow: My New Do!

After a drastic wonky hair cut when I was younger that left me with no choice but to cut my hair short I have since had a fear of cutting my hair. But I can now say that after about (I was going to say 12 years but who am I kidding) pretty much my whole life, I have finally out grown my attachment to my hair. To those of you who read my post 'Do I go for the chop' a few weeks ago will know that I have been contemplating getting, for me, what is a big cut. I have grown my hair since I was a wee one and, I’m ashamed to say this out loud, as I only get my hair trimmed once a year; I felt it was about time for a good snip and a bit of a change! After spotting a pic of celeb Victoria Justice, I developed a major case of hair envy and decided that I wanted a length and style similar to hers. I curl my hair more often than straightening it nowadays so my hairdresser thought it’d be wise to cut it a tad longer than I wanted off as it will always look shorter once curled. And to be honest I wish I had just gone all out and gone the extra few inches shorter, my hair grows at lightning speed so I don’t know why I get so attached to it! A month ago you wouldn’t have heard me saying this, I feel like a changed woman, who knows you might see me posting next week with a bright pink pixie hair cut (okay maybe 2 weeks)!
What do you think of my new do?
If any fellow bloggers have this length hair I would love to know what you use to style it? I have just invested in some sleep in rollers so I’m excited to experiment with them!

2013 Year In Review Tag

Who doesn't love a good tag post every now and then? It's definitely a fab way to connect with new bloggers. I've been nominated by Nicole from the lovely Life  Of A Trainee Journalist which I really recommend you visit.  In terms of rules for this tag you simply need to link back and thank the blogger that  tagged you, answer the following questions and tag at least five other bloggers, not forgetting to include the badge in your post!

1. Your top five favourite blogs to read in 2013
I came across so many great blogs last year, extending my bloglovin feed massively! So there are loads I'd love to share with you but if I have to narrow it down then it would have to be...
3. Name one blog you wish you had found sooner
Trends with benefits - I found about this blog in last years Company Magazine blog awards article as they were best crafting blog winners! I personally love to get crafty every now and then and their blog contains so many inspirational DIY ideas I wish I had discovered them sooner! They have 3 writers so their blog is updated regularly leaving you spoilt for choice with crafty tasks. I really reccomend you pay them a visit!

4. Your favourite blog post of 2013
One of things I like most about blogging is that it's great to log memories, one of my earlier posts from last year was about my experience at Paris Fashion Week, and what an amazing experience it was. As a Fashion student I was in my element so I loved being able to photograph so much gorgeous fashion and being able to share it on my blog.

5. What would you like to improve (if anything) on your blog this year?
I love my blog for the fact its a space to share my views with the whole blogosphere on things I'm passionate about. However I'm a busy bee and would love to be able to blog more often and perhaps spend some quality time on creating a new blog design some time soon!

6. Name one blog you have a blog crush on
Milk Bubble Tea, I am so in love with her quaint blog design, she takes the most gorgoeus photographs and writes about everything I want to read with a good range of fashion, beauty and lifestyle. Plus I'm a sucker for dogs and she has the most adorable puppy ever its worth just visiting her blog to awe at him! Milk Bubble Tea was also a winner in last years Company blog awards, very worthy indeed!

7. How often do you post?
About once a week, as said above I would love to do so more often if I had the time but I always have ideas at the ready so a week provides me with a good time put together each post.

8. Share your first post of 2013
My first post of the year was a Knitting for begginers post as I was going through a knitting craze at the time making scarves galore so I decided to make a few tutorials! I'd like to feature some more crafty tutorials this year so if you're into craft, stay tuned!

9. Name one thing you'd be doing if you weren't typing this post right now
It's a Sunday evening so most likely, drinking a milky cuppa and having some sort of film marathon, last week it was Batman. So today maybe I'll start on Lord Of The Rings tonight? (I'm a fantasy nerd at heart).

10. What have you loved the most about blogging this year?
2013 was the year I set up According To Ellie so I have loved seeing my blog grow and immersing myself in the blogosphere enabling me to connect with so many other wonderful bloggers! Fingers crossed for another great year in blogging.

The people I would like to nominate to do this are...
